Religious Education Announcements

Join us December 24 for our annual Christmas Eve Family Mass. At 3:30 pm our Children's Choir will delight us in song, followed by a Nativity Pageant by our parish children. All children are welcome to participate, children Grade 2 and younger are welcome to come dressed as angels and shepherds, Grade 3 and up are welcome as narrators and others roles. Our children in middle school will take preference for more important roles. We will have our rehearsal Tuesday, December 19 in church from 6:00-7:30 pm. With Thanksgiving quickly approaching we encourage all families to participate in the Parish's Weekly Food Drive. Please bring non-breakable, non-perishable food items to the collection barrels at the entrances of our Church when you come for Mass. Suggested items are canned and powdered potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, canned (not jarred ) gravy, and canned vegetables. Donated items will be packaged into baskets and distributed to those in need. Please help make Thanksgiving a happier time for families in need.


November 2 2017

First Reconciliation will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18. Children attending Saint Paul School, Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart and Family Home Study will attend the 9:30 am celebration. Children attending Sunday PREP, Tuesday PREP, Hispanic PREP, and Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart will celebrate the sacrament at 11:00 am.

*Please note, you will not need to bring a photograph of your child.

When One8 Confirmation Sessions occur on a Sunday Afternoon, children attending Sunday or Tuesday Grade 8 Parish Religious Education Program will not meet for classes that week.However while there is no class, students for October 22 and 24 should complete the lesson beginning on page 338 in their student workbook entitled Rights and Responsibilities of the Human Person. They should prepare their notes and be ready to discuss on October 29 and November 7.

The First Reconciliation Retreat is on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9:30 to 11:30 am. All Children preparing for Reconciliation are expected to attend with one parent. We will begin the day with prayer in the Church, and then children and parents will break into their own sessions. The purpose of the day is to provide children an opportunity to become more comfortable with the sacrament of reconciliation. Parents will have their own opportunity for reflection and conversation on preparing their children for this sacrament.

The Religious Education Program communicates with families through news alerts on our parish website. We encourage all families to register for news alerts so that these announcements are sent directly to your email address. Mark your calendars to join us for our parent/candidate meeting on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 3:00 pm. We'll gather together in the Spiritual Center for an opportunity to talk about some of the logistics of this year's program as well as to prepare ourselves spiritually for this monumental year. We'll conclude our time together on that day with 5:00 pm Mass. Please email Kait (kmayer@stpaulsofprinceton.org) with any questions. All candidates must attend and bring a parent/guardian.

Sunday and Tuesday Parish Religious Education Classes begin on September 17 and September 19 respectively. All parents are asked to plan on staying for the first session as we will have a parent orientation to discuss the year to come. At this time parents will be given information about the Family Life Program, and important dates. We look forward to seeing everyone for the beginning of the year.

As part of our efforts to provide safe environments for children, and young people, and in conformity with diocesan policy all adults whose employment, volunteering or ministry involves regular contact with minors must submit to a criminal background check through fingerprint analysis as determined by the Diocese of Trenton and a VIRTUS Awareness Training Program. These sessions cover the scope and nature of child sexual abuse in addition to giving participants the five steps that caring adults can follow to protect children. Next VIRTUS Session is Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 pm in the Parish Center, St. Timothy Room (please use the white door to enter). Please click here to register.

The Parish Religious Education Program is seeking volunteer catechists for our Sunday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, and Tuesday Evening Programs. If you are interested in becoming a catechist, or are interested in volunteering as a hall monitor, adult classroom aide, or feel that you have a skill that will be useful for the Religious Education Program we encourage you to contact the Office of Religious Education at jmcguire@stpaulsofprinceton.org.


Vacation Bible Camp begins on Monday, July 10th at 9:00 am in the Spiritual Center. Please bring your children at 8:50 am so that they can clear security (check in) as we prepare to travel the world as we take A Wild Ride on the Wings of Prayer, and come to meet the at the gates promptly at 12:00 pm. We invite all parents to arrive at 11:30 am on Friday, July 14th as our children will share all of the wonderful songs they learned. We really look forward to an amazing week of singing, crafts, games, and snacks as our children learn more about prayer with the Amazing Angels and Saints!

St. Paul Parish is seeking to hire an administrative assistant to provide support for the Religious Education Office. Religious Ed provides classes to approximately 700 children, and prepares children for Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel,Publisher, and Word) with an eye for detail, and strong organizational skills. The position is a part time requiring 24 hours per week. There is some flexibility in the work schedule. St. Paul School children will celebrate First Eucharist on Saturday, May 6 at 9:30 am, rehearsal will be Wednesday, May 3 at 5:30 pm. Children enrolled in Sunday PREP and Stuart Country Day will celebrate First Eucharist on Saturday, May 6 at 11:30 am. Their rehearsal will be Wednesday, May 3 at 7:00 pm

Children enrolled in Tuesday PREP and Princeton Academy will celebrate First Eucharist on Saturday, May 13 at 9:30 am. Rehearsal will be on Wednesday, May 10 at 5:30 am.

Students from Family Home Study, or those who have changed the times/dates of their scheduled celebrations should attend the rehearsal corresponding with their selection.

All children preparing for First Eucharist are asked to attend a morning retreat on Saturday, March 25th from 9:00 am– 12:00 pm. A parent is asked to attend with your child. We will meet in the school cafeteria, and children will be brought to their assigned classroom. Parents will attend their own session where we will answer all of your questions about First Eucharist. We will reconvene in the Church for Liturgical "Show and Tell" Unconsecrated "Taste and See" and conclude in prayer. We look forward to seeing you then!

Banner kits will also be distributed.

Fifth through seventh grade children enrolled in our Parish Religious Education Programs will gather for their Family Life Day on March 11th from 9:00 am-12:00 pm . All Religious Education Students, Family Home Study, Traditional PREP, and Summer Academy are expected to attend this retreat . The program will begin in the Saint Paul School Gym. Only the children are expected to attend. Please contact the Religious Education Office for more information.

Family Life Day for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade will be this Saturday, February 25 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. All Religious Education Students, Family Home Study, Traditional PREP, and Summer Academy are expected to attend this retreat. The program will begin in the Saint Paul School Gym, and only the children are expected to attend. Please contact the Religious Education Office for more information.

As you will recall from mail in the spring, and from the Parent Information Orientation at the beginning of the year, according to diocesan policy, all children enrolled in a religious education program are to attend a Family Life retreat. St. Paul is sponsoring two retreats one on Saturday, February 25 for Kindergarten to 4th grade and on Saturday, March 11 for 5th to 7th grade. Both retreats start at 9:00 am and end at 12:00 pm
There will be parent information meetings about these retreats during the regular Parish Religious Education Program sessions on Sunday, January 22 (8:45– 9:45 am) and on Tuesday, January 24 (4:15– 5:30 pm). Parents of Summer Academy and Family Home Study are encouraged to attend one of these sessions along with the tradition PREP parents. There will be a presentation and opportunity for questions and answer.

There will be no Religious Education classes on Sunday, Dec. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 1. Sunday Classes resume on Jan. 8. Tuesday classes will not meet on Tuesday, Dec. 27 and Tuesday, Jan 3. Tuesday Classes resume on Tuesday, Jan. 10. The Office of Religious Education will be closed from Monday, Dec. 26 to Monday, Jan. 2.

On Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24 at 3:30 pm we will have our annual Nativity Play in conjunction with the wonderful singers of the St. Paul Parish Children's Choir under the leadership of Mrs. Carole Moore. Any student is welcomed to participate. Children 2nd grade and younger are encouraged to come dressed as shepherds or angels, children third grade through 7th grade will be welcomed as narrators and to play an inn keeper, the star and other important roles. We will be looking for a girl grades seven or eight to play Mary, and a boy grades seven or eight to play Joseph. We will also be looking for a infant for the role of baby Jesus. On Tuesday, November 1 there will be no Tuesday Afternoon or Evening Parish Religious Education Program Sessions as the church celebrates, All Saints Day a Holy Day of Obligation. All families are encouraged to attend Mass that day. There will be Masses in English on Monday, October 31 at 5:30 pm and Tuesday, November 1 at 6:45 am, 8:15 am, 12:00 pm, 7:00 pm, and in Spanish at 8:30 pm.

Saint Paul Parish will be celebrating at our annual ParishFest 2016 on Sunday, Sept. 18. There will be no PREP on Sunday morning September 18th. Tuesday Afternoon and Evening PREP classes will be meeting as scheduled on September 20th. All families are invited to participate in our ParishFest celebrations beginning with a multicultural mass at 11:30 am followed by a picnic and entertainment under the tent in the parking lot.

"Prayer: The Faith Prayed"

This year, the our parish will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 11, 2016 and will focus on the theme "Prayer: The Faith Prayed." Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.

Families who participated in Summer Academy this past summer were informed that in accordance with revised diocesan policy that they were expected to attend 4 faith/catechetical enrichment sessions. Children are expected to attend their age appropriate Family Life Day (Grades K-4: Saturday, Feb 25 at 9:00 am-12:00 pm and Grades 5-7: Saturday, Mar 11th at 9:00 am-12:00 pm) and three additional sessions with the Family Home Study Program (Sunday 12/4, 3/5 and 5/7) Please do not attend the 9/11 FHS orientation on Sunday, 9/11. The agenda for this meeting is for families participating in Family Home Study.

St. Paul Religious Education Program begins on Sunday, September 11th and Tuesday, September 13th. Sunday classes meet at 8:40 am-9:45 am; Tuesday Afternoon classes meet at 4:15 pm-5:30 pm. Our young people in middle school (grades 6-8) will also have the opportunity to attend Tuesday Evening classes meeting at 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. (Please note the change in time).

If you have not yet registered or re-registered your child, please do so quickly by contacting the Religious Education Office. Space is still available during each of these sessions.
